Weddings: Staying Within your Budget

Did you know, on average, a wedding can cost over $20,000?  These special moments can be pricey, but there are ways to cut costs with out cutting back.  Adding up all the necessities for a wedding can seem overwhelming but here are a few money saving ideas that we, at BTS Event Management, love to use to ensure our clients stay within their budget:

Invitations: Between save the date cards, invitations, and thank you cards, you can wind up spending a fortune.  Thankfully there are plenty of simple do it yourself ideas and patterns around that can save at least a few hundred dollars.  Many brides feel they lack in creativity or artistic ability, so they shy away from creating the invitations themselves, but the truth is, it is really fairly simple.  It can even turn into a special bonding time with the help of bridesmaids and close family members, a glass of wine and some great take out.

Food: Dinner can be an extremely expensive part of any wedding, especially depending on the number of guests attending.  Plates can cost anywhere from $20-30 per person.  The cost of dinner alone, can add up very quickly, but there is also the cost of the cake and beverages to add in.  A great way to cut down costs in this department would be to provide a buffet style dinner with finger foods.  Guest don’t have to be wined and dined with steak and seafood to be impressed, its all in the presentation, taste and creativity of the food that will have them talking.  We’ve arranged wedding dinners with mini cheeseburgers and fries that have wowed attendees more than the traditional expensive plate.  A recent bigger trend, is swapping the traditional wedding cake for designed cupcakes.  This can also save a couple hundred dollars, and always turns out to be a favorite among guests. Both of these ideas are unique, creative, and definite ways to save a ton of money on your wedding.

Wedding Favors: This is another area, where prices can add up quickly.  Couples want their guests to leave their wedding with something to remember their special day with.  There are a ton of cute and clever do it yourself ideas for wedding favors.  DIY favors should be simple, and symbolic of you two as a couple, all while keeping costs to a minimum.

Hire a Wedding Planner: Last but not least, one of our biggest pieces of advise is to hire a wedding planner🙂  Many people have the idea that event planners can be costly, this is not true.  Having a wedding planner may seem like an additional cost, but in the long run, it will end up saving you money.  Wedding planners have good relationships with various venders and can often get you a better price.  Wedding planners plan tons of weddings, so we have endless tips and tricks for cutting down on spending and keeping you within your budget.  We have great ways to save money on inexpensive center piece ideas, music, decor, and lighting as well as ways to cut expenses on  bachelor/bachelorette parties, bridal showers, and honeymoons.  When you hire a wedding planner, you are hiring someone, who’s full time job is to shop around, we have the time to find you the best deals and ideas to ensure your wedding is everything you dream of.
