We all know planning a wedding can be stressful! Managing all of the moving parts of your wedding, communicating the details to your family and friends, and being the main point of contact for just about EVERYONE can be a lot to handle. So take this already stressful time and throw in a HUGE plot twist called Corona Virus and now we really have a boiling pot.

The time we are all living in now, has brought so much uncertainty and fear to just about everyone in every area and has really thrown the wedding and event industry for a loop. Wedding and event dates are constantly changing, couples are unhappy, honeymoons are being postponed, bridal showers and bachelorette/bachelor parties are being canceled, it’s just an absolute whirlwind. No one knows what the future holds later on in the year making the “what ifs” endless and the uncertainty through the roof.

All conversation topics seem to revolve around covid-19, especially when It comes to people speaking with anyone they know that is planning a wedding. Sometimes the questions and opinions get a little overwhelming for our already overwhelmed brides. So we wanted to write this blog to hopefully spread some awareness on what NOT to say when you are trying to be empathetic and console couples planning a wedding during this time.

5 things not to say:
  1. So are you still getting married? For the love of everything, please do not ask this question. It just reminds everyone of the uncertainty that everything wedding related is up in the air. If the wedding was canceled or postponed, you would already know, so no need to ask.
  2. Aren’t you scared about moving forward with your wedding? Yes, of course the couple is still worried about this. Again, no need to ask the question.
  3. Well how are you going to get your dress? Dresses are still shipping, designers are still designing, boutiques are still taking private appointments in some areas, and life is still moving forward. No need to suggest stress in this area when things are all worked out.
  4. Why don’t you just elope? Easy answer there, if the couple wanted to elope….they would elope. Trust me, you are not the first person to think of this lol.
  5. What are you so worried about, my cousin’s uncle’s boss said this is literally going to pass by next weekend. Sir, thank you for this info, I am sure said person is a total genius and has all the answers to life. But let’s be realistic, no one knows what is going on and no one knows what will happen later in the year so please try your hardest to refrain from suggesting what the future holds.

We talk to our brides all the time about what they are going through, things that have been irritating, and topics of discussion they’d rather avoid. The main trend in these conversations seems to be that brides really don’t want your opinions on this topic. There is a 100% chance they have put a lot of thought into what is best for them and talked over their own personal decisions with everyone that they need to talk this over with.

We really recommend avoiding the act of suggesting your opinions. Be mindful of what you are saying to these couples who are already dealing with so much. Keep in mind that your simple question, may actually not be that simple and could potentially be the breaking point to someone who is going through the possibility of not having his or her special day that they have dreamed about for lord knows how long.

Here are some great take away questions that we recommend asking instead of the list above:

1. How are you feeling today?
2. Whats the most exciting thing you are working on for your wedding right now?
3. Have you been working on writing your vows? This is probably the perfect time to get going on these!
4. Tell me about your wedding dress or tux/suit, I can NOT wait to see It!!
5. Have you and your bridesmaids/groomsmen been doing any virtual workouts? I hear this is a great stress reliever.

We are all going through uncertain times right now, and I whole heartedly believe that no one is intentionally trying to be hurtful or unhelpful. This is exactly why we created this blog! We want to spread awareness and help people understand some of the trials and tribulations our couples are experiencing. We want to shed some light on how some people might be feeling.

If you are engaged and looking for a way to shed some light on how you’ve been feeling about all the Covid Questions…feel free to share this post 🙂

Are you looking for a perfect destination wedding venue?  One that fits all parameters of each of your guests as well as your very own satisfaction?  Something that gives you the most personal wedding experience possible but thousands of miles away from home?  Grand Velas Resorts has it all and they have several locations too!

Let’s begin by saying how familiar we are with Grand Velas Resorts as we have worked on property at both their Cabo and Cancun locations. This privately owned chain of resorts in Mexico, specializes in a high end, luxury, all-inclusive experience and in Puerto Vallarta, that experience resumed consistent to the brand.

To give a little insight into Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as a whole; it is known as a resort town on the Pacific Coast of Mexico.  The city is extremely developed in the sense that it has many American chained business establishments.  Which came as a surprise compared to Cabo and Cancun.  Puerto Vallarta is known for being a wealthier city of Mexico and crime is very low.

CASA VELAS

The first night was spent at Casa Velas, a small, adult only, boutique style property, all-inclusive resort. Casa Velas would be perfect for a destination wedding looking to have 100-150 guests attending their wedding.  The resort consists of about 60 guest sleeping rooms, hence the meaning behind boutique.  They make it easy to do a resort buy-out, which gives couples the flexibility to really make their guest experience exactly what they are looking for. Like the other Velas properties we have worked at and stayed at previously, the service, culinary experience and overall charm of the grounds is unmatched.

A private, romantic dinner ambiance was created for Trista and her boyfriend (yes, he is real – LOL!) that was full of surprises.  Dinner consisted of a five course menu, filled with fresh foods of all variety and wine pairings to accompany.  Service was of the highest level with knowledge of the property in its entirety.  The night was truly special.

One of the most special parts of the venue is the large lawn engulfed with a surrounding garden on all ends.  This essentially blank piece of property is where many of their weddings and events take place.  Not to mention, the garden serves as a multipurpose of not only beauty but as a supply of fresh herbs and spices to fill the resort.

A short two minute ride from the resort, you will be embraced by the beach club staff to welcome you to the beach club where all water sports and fun take place.  This is also a great location to host events, poolside/beachside for your guests to enjoy a special occasion.

Grand Velas, Riviera Nayarit

The next two nights were spent at Grand Velas, Riviera Nayarit.  This is Grand Velas’s first of three Velas properties.  It is the smallest one of the three but just as beautiful.  The service remained at a consistent status – incredible.  The wedding ceremony site was one of the grandest of settings we have ever seen.

Riviera Nayarit focuses on mental health, relaxation and self care.  As a result, we were able to enjoy the amenities of the relaxing spa.  There was champagne, fresh fruit trays, customized incense and love bracelets to close the experience.  It was one to remember and certainly one to want to go back to enjoy again.

The exclusive experience that we had was completely fulfilling and would be sure to meet the needs of all your guests.  From the chic a la carte restaurants to the close proximity of the local downtown city, your wedding weekend would for sure be a big hit.

Deciding to do your wedding at an all-inclusive resort is not always the easiest, especially because of the unknown.  From our personal experience, this resort surpasses all of those worries.  Everything is included and that goes without compromise.  To enjoy the food, ambiance and experience all in one does not always go hand in hand with all-inclusive’s but for the Grand Velas properties, they hit the ball out of the park.

For more details on why all inclusive resorts such as Grand Velas could be a bonus for you and your wedding experience, be sure to reach out!  We have all the details and can’t wait to share more.

It is the perfect timing to give you all a Designer Spotlight in lieu of everything going on in the world.  Let’s take the time to step aside and take a look at a beautiful designer, who focus’s on the non-traditional, modern bride and hear about an interview that we had the privilege of doing.  Not only that, but we were able to capture a gorgeous Daci gown, the Leah Silk Chiffon, along with a gorgeous model, coincidentally named Leah as well.  Instantly, we were in love with the free flowing, not so traditional dress that we needed to learn more about the designer herself.

Before we get into our interview, check out some of the photos from our styled shoot:

Now, time for the interview!

How long have you been a Designer:

I have been doing this for 23 years!

How did you name your company? What does Daci represent?

My name is Daci. I was born and raised in Romania – Transylvania. Daciana is my full name; everyone calls me Daci.

Can you describe to us your absolute favorite gown (something different than the one we used) and a send a picture of it?

Every new dress becomes my new favorite 😂 I put all my heart in each of them.

Who is your ideal bride, meaning who do you design for?

I design for the non-traditional, modern bride.  I love detail, texture, color, flow and movement. You won’t see 2 dresses alike. I work with each bride individually and love to spark their creativity and give them all options possible to create their one of a kind dream dress. The brides that come see me find value in high quality laces and silks.

What is the price range for your gowns?

Bridal line starts at $2,900. Custom dresses start at $3,500. This year I introduced a new collection where the top is not sewn to the skirt. At the fitting the brides have the opportunity to try on different tops and bottoms, to help them visualize their dream dress better. Then the final dress is one piece.

Where are you based out of?

We are located in Boise, Idaho but half of the brides come from out of state. Some come to Boise for the fitting, otherwise we do FaceTime appointments and “in home” fittings where I ship the requested favorite dress.

What is to come next for Daci Gowns?

Late spring 2020 I will be introducing a new bridal line, add on pieces to existing wedding dress. I’m super excited to launch this collection. I often have brides that already bought their dress and they want some “finishing touches” or a second look. The line will consist of silk chiffon overdresses, skirts, off the shoulder sleeves, capes. The pieces will be detailed, natural plant based dyed, neutral embellished to blend perfectly with any dress.  I will have one of a kind pieces ready to buy, and a small line of each of the pieces listed above.

A special note to Daci from us here at BTS; thank you for allowing us to work with you!  You are a brilliant designer and have so much talent and passion for what you do.  We are honored to have partnered with you!

How do you make the Midi Dress work?

Dress trends come and go but the lengths of them often remain the same.  That is of course unless you are watching “27 Dresses” where Katherine Heigel says “Aren’t these dresses great? And the best thing is you can shorten it and wear it again.”  But to be honest, who really has the time for that?  Midi length dresses have become the ultimate fashion trend in dresses lately and we are definitely here for all of the looks.  Actually, thinking about it, each of us has their own version of the perfect midi dress but collectively however, we do agree, we are here for all of them.

When it comes to weddings, and especially bridesmaids, finding the perfect dress is always tough. Don’t worry though, you are not alone.  We vow to always have your back in this area and give you the support you need.  Lately, we have been LOVING the mid-length dresses.  The fit, the style and the overall look of them, but remember – they have to be done in the right way.  Shape and form is always important and one really great thing about the best midi – form fitting it winning the game for every figure out there.  If you are unsure about them and just venturing out in the game, don’t be shy – open up and try it out.  You may surprise yourself 🙂

New York Bridal Fashion Week Fall ’20 Collection

Wow. We are still catching up on sleep, work and trying to get our minds right from all the amazingness that we saw last week at New York bridal fashion week but we just can’t seem to shake it. New York in itself, is a one of a kind city. Full of dreams, lights, and people and for us, we attend for all of that, and of course, for the dresses.

 Year 3 for BTS

This year, marks our third year of attending shows, meeting designers, and drooling over elegance at its finest. We had a jam packed weekend of Runway shows and private viewings of our most favorite designers and some we never even knew before. None the less, it was an experience we will never forget and always remember.  Not to mention, we stayed at one of our favorite hotels, Dream Downtown, and had some amazing food experiences as well. (Alex and Storm love food, by the way).

The Shows:

Berta, Galia, Pronovias, Pnina and Julie Vino– you all know they are some of our favorites and boy, they did not disappoint.

This season was definitely a season of sophistication and bringing back tradition. We saw a lot of ball gowns and a lot of bows. Berta, took the conservative route and definitely scaled back on the sexy sheer look. Pnina, while typically known for her crystals and bling, brought lace, satin and bows to the show. THE BOWS! Oh how obsessed we are with the bows. Check out some of our favorite looks that we captured right from the runway.  We are in love!

One designer that hit our photo albums this weekend that completely blew us away was Tel Aviv designers, Yael Eisenberg and Heli Kalkstein, also known as Eisen Stein. These two met each other in design school and after a short 4 month design process, had created their first bridal line in 2011.

To say their dresses are gorgeous is simply an understatement. The vision the pair has, coupled with the most high quality materials of silk, lace, beading and Swarovski crystals really had our jaws drop.  One dress, was a last minute addition that took only days to produce. This dress happened to be our teams favorite. The intricacy and detail was out of this world and oh my, it was a stunner.

Dress and details by: Eisen-Stein Bridal

Any-who! To say our expectations were met, is an understatement. We had the best time, in the best city doing the best things. Wanna hear more or see more from our experience, head over to our Instagram page and check out our highlights!!

BTS is here to break down what’s trending in the world of weddings! Today we’re going to talk about bridal gowns. Specifically, high and low.

Brides who are dress shopping, take some notes on what we’re about to say: HIGH AND LOW WEDDING GOWNS ARE TRENDING. And we are so absolutely here for the look. Let’s talk about why.

Let’s start with a high low gown being your best second dress option. By reception time you’ll have had a drink or two in your system. So it’s only right that your outfit is business in the back and party in the front. With a high low gown, you have room to dance around and really enjoy the wedding reception.

The days of the detatcheable skirt are over. Well, maybe not all the way. But if you’re tired of seeing the detachable skirt, try a high low gown. Take a look at some of our high low favs, and let us know which you’d choose for your big day.

From a killer party playlist to a poppin’ highlight, Rihanna has really taken care of some important essentials for females! The former singer has been WOW-ing us with her ability to really take our needs into consideration when it comes to all things beauty and fashion and man-oh-man has she proved to us that she’s got our back!

She broke makeup industry standards in 2017 when she came out with 40 foundation shades–something that was literally unheard of (and hello, can you say PERFECT wedding day foundation?) and then clapped back at us when she launched her size inclusive lingerie line, Savage X Fenty.

Unsurprisingly, both brands have been completely slaying ever since. With the two-year anniversary of Fenty Beauty coming up right alongside the one-year anniversary of Savage x Fenty, we think it’s safe to say that this is the year of Queen Rih – and we’re LIVING for it!

Rihanna decided to drop a little surprise on us just in time for the thriving lingerie brand’s one-year anniversary (and your summer wedding): Savage X Fenty Bridal Box! Um, can we get a “HELL YEA”?! This adorable little accessory box comes with allllllll the things RiRi thinks you’ll need to become a savage in the sheets, on your first night as a Mrs (sorry, mom!). It includes white lace heart-shaped pasties, a garter and ruffled handcuffs for $44 (or $22 with a VIP membership). Your hubby can thank us later!

Doesn’t that just look like a fun night?! Although the box only comes with fun additions for your outfit, we’re sure you’re going to love the rest of the lingerie! Not only does this brand range from 32A-46DDD but there’s a great selection of styles. Need the perfect strapless bra for your wedding day? She’s got one. Want something sexy for your wedding night? There’s plenty to choose from. We grabbed a few of our favorite styles to get you excited about pairing with your Bridal Box, but make sure your fiance isn’t around! We don’t want to spoil any wedding night surprises!

Strapless Bra in Honey Butter

Metallic Lace Teddy in Iced

Sheer Underwire Ruffle Bra and Low Rise Open Bikini in Dusty Peach

Satin And Lace Bodysuit in Cherry Blossom

We told you there was some sexy stuff in here! We feel like Savage X Fenty really embodies an affordable, practical yet FUN approach on pieces that are so intimate and special to us! There’s nothing like feeling comfortable under my umbrella-ella-ella-eh…. Ahem, we mean… underneath it all. 😉

By now, we can pretty much all agree that the boho bridal trends have dominated the market for quite some time now. The effortless yet romantic feel has definitely had its time to shine, so if you’re looking to change things up with something a little unexpected, then we’ve got just the right ‘do for you!

With 90s fashion making such a strong comeback, it only makes sense that it trickles down into our current hair and makeup trends. We all remember the tight twists, braids and sleek ponytails that our mothers tortured us with (the butterfly clips made the pain worth it), but we definitely won’t take it THAT far on your wedding day! Although we’re throwing it back and living for the nostalgia of our childhood, we’re going to give you a modern bride take on some oldie but goodies that are worth considering. Take a look…

Keepin It Simple

Buns were EVERYTHING in the 90s. A lot of the times there were multiple (think Gwen Stefani in the early No Doubt days). We’re going to keep it simple with just one for a sleek yet untamed top knot! Add an embellished hairpiece to take it up a notch if your wedding is a tad more formal

Au Natural

Tight ringlets were all we knew before beach waves took over. Step away from the flat iron and show off your gorgeous tendrils with a HIGH pony and cascading curls. There’s nothing like being able to embrace your natural beauty and being true to yourself on your big day!

The Bubble Pony

What a cute way to incorporate your playful personality, right?! Keep it modern and sleek, pull out some wispies for a less structured look or add some sparkle with something dreamy like these gorgeous star and pearl pins.

How’d you like our little walk down memory lane? We told you it would bring back some memories (we promise we’d never suggest something that you’d cringe over in your wedding photos in 10-20 years)! We hope this inspires you to take a step away from the low and messy styles we’ve got accustomed to and help start a new wave of bridal trends!  What do you think about our beloved 90s fashion making a full comeback? Let us know below!

The Viceroy Experience In Cabo

Calling all jet setter brides with a passion for modern spaces, a healthy lifestyle, and treating yourself. It’s Alex here from BTS and I’m about to give you the inside scoop on our absolutely magical experience at the Viceroy Los Cabos. Which, by the way, felt like a futuristic water world.

The moment you step foot on this ethereal architectural masterpiece, you know you’re in for VIP treatment. Girl, you know you deserve only the best! The Viceroy is anything but basic. The entire staff was there to welcome us and even greeted us by name! That’s major points in our book for having studied their clients.

After a deliciously refreshing mocktail upon our arrival, we made our way to our room. The bellman relieved us of our luggage and escorted us to our rooms. Totally normal, I know, but when I made my way inside my room my jaw just dropped. In the room, was a picture of my daughter, Penelope, as well as a stuffed animal for her.

There was also a meat and cheese board, and a Viceroy tote bag accompanied by a note from Martin, the hotel’s general manager. The check-in was, clearly, an experience of its own.

To say we were impressed is an understatement. The bride was treated like the total queen she is! Pictures of her and her fiancé, as well as her engagement video, were playing upon her arrival. It was such a personalized experience we’re ecstatic she got to be a part of.

After we were all settled in, we went on a tour where we were offered drinks including shaved ice and cotton candy! By dinner time, we were dying of curiosity to see what kind of special experience we would be treated to considering the check-in process was so attentive! Food by itself is an adventure for your taste buds but the Viceroy took it to a whole other level. We had a progressive dinner where basically we started in one restaurant, moved to another for the main course, and finished with an in-room dessert experience with a mini cake. Let’s be honest ladies, who doesn’t want to run off and eat cake in bed once the staff is gone?

When you travel often, you know how hard it can be to make all the places you stay at feel “homey.” Fortunately, the Viceroy staff made for such a welcoming experience throughout the stay. It absolutely knocked our socks off! In all of our time experiencing venue tours, we never had a team go above and beyond like this. It made us even more excited to go to other Viceroy properties. Take a look at these photos and tell us, what do you look for in the perfect venue?
