Guest Attire Rules

Weddings are huge. It’s no wonder much thought goes into the selection of attire not only for the bride and groom but for their guests too. Even though many weddings have a dress code or suggested attire listed on their wedding website or invitation. There are some that don’t.

If the wedding you’re attending does have guidelines for attire, those rules or “suggestions” (we say suggestions in quotes because the term suggested attire is a polite way of saying, “we want you to wear this.”) will easily narrow down your attire selections. In case there is no dress code or suggested attire, we’ve compiled a list of clothing items what will always work, won’t work, and what we suggest:

What will always work:

  • A long gown or dress
  • Strappy heels
  • Trendy pants suit

What won’t work

  • Anything too casual, i.e., summer dress, sandals, and jeans
  • Anything white, off-white, cream, ivory, tan, sand, light silver, sequin, or the color the wedding dress could be.

Good colors to wear

  • Black
  • Green
  • Navy blue
  • Red
  • Dark grey

Things to avoid

Unless there is a color scheme or theme as part of the dress code, try to avoid the wedding colors. Here’s why. You don’t want to blend in with the bridesmaids, and even worse, potentially purchase a dress similar to what the bridesmaids are wearing.

You’re probably thinking, “How in the world am I supposed to know what the wedding colors are?” You can figure out what they might be based on the invitation. In the meantime, we’ve compiled a list of attire that would be perfect for a wedding.

Bridal Shoes We Love

Wedding shoes are up there on the list of items most photographed on wedding day. This is why you’ll want your shoe choice to be on point. These photos will last forever, and if you’re anything like us, you’ll want to look back on these photos when you’re old and grey and think, “wow, I was so fashionable!” We have a while before you get to that point so in the meantime, here are a couple of things to consider before buying your shoes, like purchasing your dress and knowing your wedding venue.

Your dress and wedding venue are important when it comes to picking out your wedding day shoe because they dictate, in some ways, what restrictions, if any, you’ll face. For example, walking down a sandy beach is pretty hard to do in heels. Right? As it relates to your dress, you’ll want your shoes to match in every way: style, color and detail. Without knowing what the vibe of your dress is, how will you know what vibe your shoe should be?

With the many options, our brides are often overwhelmed, so we’ve broken down some of our favorites for you. We even split the shoes up into three categories based on the bride’s interests, classic, traditional and modern to fit every bride. Take a look at these shoes and let us know which is your favorite.

Classic, traditional bride.

In order, from top to bottom are Jimmy Choo, Jimmy Choo, and Badgley Mischka.

Modern Bride

In order, from top to bottom are Valentino, Schutz, and Net-a-Porter.

Romantic Bride

In order, from top to bottom are Loubs, Jimmy Choo, and Aquazzura.

Wedding planning may be overwhelming and let’s be real maybe even a bit complicated. We’ve made at least one aspect of wedding planning a bit easier. Let us know if you’ll be going with any of these options, we’d love to hear from you! And don’t forget, if you need help with bridal styling, email us at info@btseventmanagement.com.

Ever wonder what’s going through the groom’s head when he’s planning to propose? Us too! Whenever we get the opportunity to chat with our grooms, we try to pry all the deets out of him. This is exactly why we wanted someone like Gabriel as a guest on our podcast, so he can fill all of us girls in on the behind the scenes of proposing.

Gabriel and his now wife, Jessi Malay are famous YouTube vloggers that we’re absolutely obsessed with. You can find their channel here and their proposal video here. Brace yourselves, because once you begin watching, it’s hard to stop!

But before we get to our recap of how Gabriel proposed, be sure to follow us on Instagram, subscribe to our channel, and show us some love in the iTunes reviews.

Gabriel and Jessi Malay worked together in the music industry. Jessi Malay was formerly part of a girl group, No Secrets, and Gabriel worked in digital marketing. That’s how they crossed paths. Gabriel and Jessi have the classic love story every girl dreams of. You know, the ‘we were friends first‘ story. We won’t totally give it away here, but listen in on our episode to here where it all started.

Royal Wedding: 3 Things You Must Know Before Watching

The Royal Wedding is just around the corner and no one is more excited than we are! Raise your hand if you’re having a watch party. Now raise your hand if you’re dressing up for the watch party. Ok, us neither. But if you do plan to live stream this, we need to fill you in on the tea. There are three important things to know before watching.

When, where and how!

“When, where and how can I watch this?” We got you covered.

The bid day between Markle and Prince Harry will be taking place on May 19, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England. The service will start at noon (or 7 a.m. ET) at St. George’s Chapel, with the dean of Windsor conducting the service and archbishop of Canterbury officiating.

You can live stream the royal wedding on your TV (CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, and BBC America will all be airing it live). HBO is also airing the wedding with commentary from Molly Shannon and Will Ferrell at 7:30 a.m. EST. You can also stream it online via CBSABCBBC America, and the New York Times’s website.

Wait, he’s not going?

Yup. That’s right. It’s been rumored that Markle’s dad will not be attending the Royal Wedding. Kensington Palace, the official residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, issued a statement on Monday following reports that Markle’s father pulled out of the wedding. The Kensington Palace didn’t confirm or deny any of the rumors. Ugh! They did, however, say, “This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation.” We feel for you, Meghan.

That’s so sweet.

As we all know, Prince Harry’s mother passed away. Just as many of our couples, who experienced a loss in the family, Prince Harry and Meghan will be taking steps to honor and remember Princess Diana at their wedding. Here’s how:

Prince Harry and Meghan will be remembering Princess Diana with Meghan’s ring, the floral, and incorporating the family in the wedding. First, Meghan’s ring. The ring is made up of two diamonds that belonged to Princess Diana’s collection. The wedding ceremony floral will be white roses, Diana’s favorite flowers. Finally, the family. Kensington Palace made a statement saying: “In addition to having the support of The Queen, his father The Prince of Wales, and his brother Prince William as Best Man, Prince Harry is also keen to involve his mother’s family in his wedding. All three siblings of Diana, Princess of Wales will be in attendance and Lady Jane Fellowes will give the reading. Prince Harry and Ms. Markle both feel honoured that Lady Jane will be representing her family and helping to celebrate the memory of the late Princess on the wedding day.”

Now that you’ve got the rundown on the big day, let us know in the comments how you plan to watch. Don’t worry, no judgment here if the attire for the watch party is black tie in honor of the big day.

Hiring a Wedding Planner: How Much Does That Cost?

BTS-058

Hiring a wedding planner can be a difficult thing for newly engaged couples to do.  After all, it’s not everyday that you are planning a wedding.  This is something that only happens once in your lifetime.  One of the most popular questions we receive from couples looking for a wedding planner is “What is your pricing?”  We do not publish our pricing on our website, so I can see why this is one of the first questions people ask.
