“A wedding dress is both intimate and personal for a woman- it must reflect the personality & style of the bride”

Looking to change up your look during your wedding but not into buying a whole additional outfit?

We totally get it, I mean it’s your night to shine so who wouldn’t want to wow guests with two different looks? So we’ve all seen the detachable trains and skirts for a few years now, but we wanted to show you all our new personal favorite, the detachable top. Now, this is a bridal fashion trend we are 100% behind.

Besides the totally fab bridal capes and robes that can accent your gorgeous gown, there are also detachable tops that can completely change the look and feel of your attire. This eye catching trend has been really popular on Mira Zwillingler’s lines recently and we are obsessed. Here are some looks from her that we are obsessed with as well as some looks from some other designers that are doing this just as well as her:

Mira Zwillinger- Anessa

Mira Zwillinger- Charla & Chaz

Anne Barge- Cumberland Wrap

Galia Lava- Sherry with pearl top

Galia Lahav- Kelly with matching flounced lace top

One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little ~White~ Dress

As we all know, times have changed and so have weddings. 2020 has become the year of elopements, and micro weddings which has impacted bridal fashion greatly! Many brides are opting for a VERY untraditional dress as they say their ‘I Do’s’, saving the debut of their grand gown for a later reception date. On the other hand, others may have just one shot at their wedding celebration which makes them decide to go a little out of the box with their attire.

Because of these new bridal fashion trends, we wanted to showcase some of our favorite designers and online boutiques who are really breaking the internet with some one of a kind designs. We tried to give a wide variety of styles and price points. Check out all of these BTS approved little white dress designs:

Give a girl the right shoe and she can conquer the world

Finding the perfect bridal shoe is a chore for reals! There are so many options and so many things to think about as far as comfort, height, look and style. We’ve done all the research for you and brought you our top 10 picks (in no particular order) for bridal shoes right now.

Tips for picking the perfect shoe

-Heel hight must be UNDER 5”
-Wear your shoes around the house to break them in. Like really break them in, but don’t scuff the bottoms because you need that shoe shot
-No matter what, have a pair of flats, sneakers, slippers, or flip flops to change into after dinner

Giving it to you straight

Jimmy Choo is by far the most comfortable for posh high heel shoes. Red bottoms seem to be the most uncomfortable, however the look and feel of a louboutin is unmatched. We are huge fans of both designers but we just had to give you some inside info here!

Birdcage veils, clips, tiaras, flower crowns…and now headbands.

Bridal fashion is constantly evolving and it’s our job to always bring you the latest and greatest in all bridal fashion trends. Bridal headbands have been peeping their way on to the runway for about a year now, but in the Spring of 2020, we started to notice a LOT of these beauties floating around in designer’s new lines and on the heads of some of the most trend setting brides. You know what this means??? These fashion accessory statement pieces will certainly be around for a few years to come.

Designers x Headbands

Fashion forward designers, like Pronovias, have been creating their own bridal headpieces that compliment some of their newer gowns. BHLDN is another bridal fashion designer center that has been creating these for about a year now. We cannot forget about, Maria Elena Headpieces, who has been creating some outstanding headbands for a while now, getting ahead of this trend. For brides looking to get this look, Etsy is an amazing place to find these beauties from smaller boutiques, who will almost always be able to create the perfect customized piece just for you.

BTS x Bridal Fashion

As you all know, we are somewhat addicted to bridal fashion. We love the fabrics, the fits, daring styles and we especially love the way a bridal gown makes a woman feel when she is wearing It. At BTS, we are constantly scouring the internet, specifically Instagram, to see the latest and greatest in bridal fashion trends.

When skimming, we were pretty drawn to the designer Alon Livne and were lucky enough to get an interview with him to really get to know about himself, and his gowns.

Before getting into the interview, check out this youtube clip of Alon talking about his ready-to-wear line, as well as his bridal line a few years back: Alon Livne

Check out our interview with Alon below and hear about his transition into the bridal scene and how he made it through COVID-19.

When did you start designing bridal gowns?
Ever since I started designing, I had white gowns that were really timeless and could always be used as bridalwear, it was just something I always felt I wanted to do. I can’t even remember when I officially separated the bridal collections from my ready-to-wear collections, it was very natural and organic.

Tell us about your very first line and how your designs have evolved into what they are today?
My collections always were fashion-forward and not relaying on trends, so I am absolutely proud of each and every gown I made. I think of each bridal gown as a work of art that is not held by the specifics of a certain year or collection.

Your dresses are all very unique, nothing like any other designer is putting out, and not a lot of similarities between any of the designs, which we LOVE! Where does your inspiration come from?
Thank you so much!
I get inspiration for both my ready-to-wear and bridal collections from all sorts of places, usually they come to me from the worlds of art, nature and different cultures as well as old- Hollywood starlets and glamour.

What is the price point range your dresses fall in?
My latest collection starts at around 4’800 USD for a made-to-measure gown.

Tell us about what you did for this Spring’s Bridal Fashion week with the Covid-19
pandemic. Did you release a new line, if so, how did you do it?
Luckily, I was able to shoot my latest Fall-Winter 2020 collection before the pandemic started so I was ready with new looks and styles that are available worldwide right now.

What is your advice for brides who are recently engaged now and looking to start dress shopping?
I think the best advice would be to keep an open mind, try on different styles but try not to lose yourself in the process. Opinions of family members and friends are great, but don’t let them confuse you – you are the most important person and what you feel comfortable and beautiful in is the gown you should get.

One last design focused question, who is your ideal bride, what kind of bride do you design for?
My ideal bride is a confident, fashion-forward woman who values quality. She is always looking into the future, but never forgets the impact of the past.
She is stunning, timeless, bold and original.

Alon Livne x ‘White’

For those of you who are not familiar with his new line, here is some eye candy you will be sure to fall in love with, just like we did:

A sophisticated staple of elegance, gloves! These evening wear accessories have been making a come back in a huge way and we are obsessed! We have been seeing gloves pop up in pop culture fashion trends, and across the red carpets and high fashion runways quite often. We are so pleased they are making their way into bridal fashion as well.

Gloves are the perfect accessory to a wedding gown especially if you are going for a sleek modern look. We love adding gloves when all other accessories are minimal, such as: a simpler veil, the gowns neckline, no necklace or a belt, and even a simpler hair style. We think long sleeve gloves will be around for years to come.

Check out these amazing modern takes on the classic high fashion accessory, gloves.

We all know planning a wedding can be stressful! Managing all of the moving parts of your wedding, communicating the details to your family and friends, and being the main point of contact for just about EVERYONE can be a lot to handle. So take this already stressful time and throw in a HUGE plot twist called Corona Virus and now we really have a boiling pot.

The time we are all living in now, has brought so much uncertainty and fear to just about everyone in every area and has really thrown the wedding and event industry for a loop. Wedding and event dates are constantly changing, couples are unhappy, honeymoons are being postponed, bridal showers and bachelorette/bachelor parties are being canceled, it’s just an absolute whirlwind. No one knows what the future holds later on in the year making the “what ifs” endless and the uncertainty through the roof.

All conversation topics seem to revolve around covid-19, especially when It comes to people speaking with anyone they know that is planning a wedding. Sometimes the questions and opinions get a little overwhelming for our already overwhelmed brides. So we wanted to write this blog to hopefully spread some awareness on what NOT to say when you are trying to be empathetic and console couples planning a wedding during this time.

5 things not to say:
  1. So are you still getting married? For the love of everything, please do not ask this question. It just reminds everyone of the uncertainty that everything wedding related is up in the air. If the wedding was canceled or postponed, you would already know, so no need to ask.
  2. Aren’t you scared about moving forward with your wedding? Yes, of course the couple is still worried about this. Again, no need to ask the question.
  3. Well how are you going to get your dress? Dresses are still shipping, designers are still designing, boutiques are still taking private appointments in some areas, and life is still moving forward. No need to suggest stress in this area when things are all worked out.
  4. Why don’t you just elope? Easy answer there, if the couple wanted to elope….they would elope. Trust me, you are not the first person to think of this lol.
  5. What are you so worried about, my cousin’s uncle’s boss said this is literally going to pass by next weekend. Sir, thank you for this info, I am sure said person is a total genius and has all the answers to life. But let’s be realistic, no one knows what is going on and no one knows what will happen later in the year so please try your hardest to refrain from suggesting what the future holds.

We talk to our brides all the time about what they are going through, things that have been irritating, and topics of discussion they’d rather avoid. The main trend in these conversations seems to be that brides really don’t want your opinions on this topic. There is a 100% chance they have put a lot of thought into what is best for them and talked over their own personal decisions with everyone that they need to talk this over with.

We really recommend avoiding the act of suggesting your opinions. Be mindful of what you are saying to these couples who are already dealing with so much. Keep in mind that your simple question, may actually not be that simple and could potentially be the breaking point to someone who is going through the possibility of not having his or her special day that they have dreamed about for lord knows how long.

Here are some great take away questions that we recommend asking instead of the list above:

1. How are you feeling today?
2. Whats the most exciting thing you are working on for your wedding right now?
3. Have you been working on writing your vows? This is probably the perfect time to get going on these!
4. Tell me about your wedding dress or tux/suit, I can NOT wait to see It!!
5. Have you and your bridesmaids/groomsmen been doing any virtual workouts? I hear this is a great stress reliever.

We are all going through uncertain times right now, and I whole heartedly believe that no one is intentionally trying to be hurtful or unhelpful. This is exactly why we created this blog! We want to spread awareness and help people understand some of the trials and tribulations our couples are experiencing. We want to shed some light on how some people might be feeling.

If you are engaged and looking for a way to shed some light on how you’ve been feeling about all the Covid Questions…feel free to share this post 🙂

Are you looking for a perfect destination wedding venue?  One that fits all parameters of each of your guests as well as your very own satisfaction?  Something that gives you the most personal wedding experience possible but thousands of miles away from home?  Grand Velas Resorts has it all and they have several locations too!

Let’s begin by saying how familiar we are with Grand Velas Resorts as we have worked on property at both their Cabo and Cancun locations. This privately owned chain of resorts in Mexico, specializes in a high end, luxury, all-inclusive experience and in Puerto Vallarta, that experience resumed consistent to the brand.

To give a little insight into Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as a whole; it is known as a resort town on the Pacific Coast of Mexico.  The city is extremely developed in the sense that it has many American chained business establishments.  Which came as a surprise compared to Cabo and Cancun.  Puerto Vallarta is known for being a wealthier city of Mexico and crime is very low.

CASA VELAS

The first night was spent at Casa Velas, a small, adult only, boutique style property, all-inclusive resort. Casa Velas would be perfect for a destination wedding looking to have 100-150 guests attending their wedding.  The resort consists of about 60 guest sleeping rooms, hence the meaning behind boutique.  They make it easy to do a resort buy-out, which gives couples the flexibility to really make their guest experience exactly what they are looking for. Like the other Velas properties we have worked at and stayed at previously, the service, culinary experience and overall charm of the grounds is unmatched.

A private, romantic dinner ambiance was created for Trista and her boyfriend (yes, he is real – LOL!) that was full of surprises.  Dinner consisted of a five course menu, filled with fresh foods of all variety and wine pairings to accompany.  Service was of the highest level with knowledge of the property in its entirety.  The night was truly special.

One of the most special parts of the venue is the large lawn engulfed with a surrounding garden on all ends.  This essentially blank piece of property is where many of their weddings and events take place.  Not to mention, the garden serves as a multipurpose of not only beauty but as a supply of fresh herbs and spices to fill the resort.

A short two minute ride from the resort, you will be embraced by the beach club staff to welcome you to the beach club where all water sports and fun take place.  This is also a great location to host events, poolside/beachside for your guests to enjoy a special occasion.

Grand Velas, Riviera Nayarit

The next two nights were spent at Grand Velas, Riviera Nayarit.  This is Grand Velas’s first of three Velas properties.  It is the smallest one of the three but just as beautiful.  The service remained at a consistent status – incredible.  The wedding ceremony site was one of the grandest of settings we have ever seen.

Riviera Nayarit focuses on mental health, relaxation and self care.  As a result, we were able to enjoy the amenities of the relaxing spa.  There was champagne, fresh fruit trays, customized incense and love bracelets to close the experience.  It was one to remember and certainly one to want to go back to enjoy again.

The exclusive experience that we had was completely fulfilling and would be sure to meet the needs of all your guests.  From the chic a la carte restaurants to the close proximity of the local downtown city, your wedding weekend would for sure be a big hit.

Deciding to do your wedding at an all-inclusive resort is not always the easiest, especially because of the unknown.  From our personal experience, this resort surpasses all of those worries.  Everything is included and that goes without compromise.  To enjoy the food, ambiance and experience all in one does not always go hand in hand with all-inclusive’s but for the Grand Velas properties, they hit the ball out of the park.

For more details on why all inclusive resorts such as Grand Velas could be a bonus for you and your wedding experience, be sure to reach out!  We have all the details and can’t wait to share more.

It is the perfect timing to give you all a Designer Spotlight in lieu of everything going on in the world.  Let’s take the time to step aside and take a look at a beautiful designer, who focus’s on the non-traditional, modern bride and hear about an interview that we had the privilege of doing.  Not only that, but we were able to capture a gorgeous Daci gown, the Leah Silk Chiffon, along with a gorgeous model, coincidentally named Leah as well.  Instantly, we were in love with the free flowing, not so traditional dress that we needed to learn more about the designer herself.

Before we get into our interview, check out some of the photos from our styled shoot:

Now, time for the interview!

How long have you been a Designer:

I have been doing this for 23 years!

How did you name your company? What does Daci represent?

My name is Daci. I was born and raised in Romania – Transylvania. Daciana is my full name; everyone calls me Daci.

Can you describe to us your absolute favorite gown (something different than the one we used) and a send a picture of it?

Every new dress becomes my new favorite 😂 I put all my heart in each of them.

Who is your ideal bride, meaning who do you design for?

I design for the non-traditional, modern bride.  I love detail, texture, color, flow and movement. You won’t see 2 dresses alike. I work with each bride individually and love to spark their creativity and give them all options possible to create their one of a kind dream dress. The brides that come see me find value in high quality laces and silks.

What is the price range for your gowns?

Bridal line starts at $2,900. Custom dresses start at $3,500. This year I introduced a new collection where the top is not sewn to the skirt. At the fitting the brides have the opportunity to try on different tops and bottoms, to help them visualize their dream dress better. Then the final dress is one piece.

Where are you based out of?

We are located in Boise, Idaho but half of the brides come from out of state. Some come to Boise for the fitting, otherwise we do FaceTime appointments and “in home” fittings where I ship the requested favorite dress.

What is to come next for Daci Gowns?

Late spring 2020 I will be introducing a new bridal line, add on pieces to existing wedding dress. I’m super excited to launch this collection. I often have brides that already bought their dress and they want some “finishing touches” or a second look. The line will consist of silk chiffon overdresses, skirts, off the shoulder sleeves, capes. The pieces will be detailed, natural plant based dyed, neutral embellished to blend perfectly with any dress.  I will have one of a kind pieces ready to buy, and a small line of each of the pieces listed above.

A special note to Daci from us here at BTS; thank you for allowing us to work with you!  You are a brilliant designer and have so much talent and passion for what you do.  We are honored to have partnered with you!

How do you make the Midi Dress work?

Dress trends come and go but the lengths of them often remain the same.  That is of course unless you are watching “27 Dresses” where Katherine Heigel says “Aren’t these dresses great? And the best thing is you can shorten it and wear it again.”  But to be honest, who really has the time for that?  Midi length dresses have become the ultimate fashion trend in dresses lately and we are definitely here for all of the looks.  Actually, thinking about it, each of us has their own version of the perfect midi dress but collectively however, we do agree, we are here for all of them.

When it comes to weddings, and especially bridesmaids, finding the perfect dress is always tough. Don’t worry though, you are not alone.  We vow to always have your back in this area and give you the support you need.  Lately, we have been LOVING the mid-length dresses.  The fit, the style and the overall look of them, but remember – they have to be done in the right way.  Shape and form is always important and one really great thing about the best midi – form fitting it winning the game for every figure out there.  If you are unsure about them and just venturing out in the game, don’t be shy – open up and try it out.  You may surprise yourself 🙂
