Keeping It Classy At The Bachelorette Party: Etiquette And Tips

bachelorette party

Assuming that your calendar is lined up with bachelorette parties all summer long, we thought it would be a good idea to lay out the basics for keeping it classy at the big affair. Celebrating the bride-to-be is an exciting time! Every bachelorette party is different, however, there are a few golden rules of bachelorette etiquette to stick to, no matter what the specifics are. Here we go…

Cover Costs

Traditionally, the guests (bachelorettes) will cover all costs for the bride-to-be and that includes meals, cocktails, and special celebrations. When you know you have a bachelorette party coming up, put off a little extra dough each month so that you can spoil the bride-to-be on her special weekend. When it comes to a gift: it is not necessarily mandatory to bring a gift to a bachelorette party. You’re paying for your transportation, hotels, meals, and most likely will be covering costs for the bachelorette—that is quite a lovely gift if you ask us!

All About The Bride

The number one rule is that this weekend is all about the bride-to-be. It’s easy to lose sight of this with a big group of women trying to make their own itinerary. Obviously, everyone is paying their own way (and in most cases- for the bride, too) so it can be tough to put that aside and focus on what the bride-to-be wants to do. Imagine it as your own bachelorette party- you would want the weekend all about you! So all in all, keep the weekend about the bride-to-be.

Dress Code

Depending on where you are going, what the weather is like, and what the plans are, this will determine what to wear of course. No matter where you are going, though, leave your white-on-white outfits at home. Why is this? It is customary for the bride-to-be to wear white at her bachelorette party. It is recommended to keep your outfits ladylike as well- it can be tempting to wear that too-short dress for a night out in Vegas, but think twice before you head out in an outfit that you’ll regret the next day.

Social Media Savvy

You’ll want to be extra careful when Instagramming over a bachelorette weekend. Bachelorettes can get a bit unruly (depending on who you’re with and who you’re celebrating), and some of the pics you take should never see the light of day. Just make sure to get approval from the rest of the bach’ party before you post/tweet/etc.

Drink Responsibly

The worst feeling ever is waking up the next morning either not recalling what happened the night before, or dealing with a hangover that means you have to miss the day’s festivities. It’s definitely fun to have a few cocktails with your best girlfriends and celebrate one of the most exciting times in a friend’s life, but trust us, you’ll want to be able to soak up every minute with your friends instead of being stuck in bed with a hangover headache.

Now remember, every bachelorette party is different, so plan (and pack) accordingly to where you will be going based on where the celebration is located and what’s on the agenda.
