The time has come to prepare that beautiful face for the big day – your wedding day of course! Instead of spending big bucks on chemical-based products with fancy labels you can use the foods in your kitchen at market prices. The following natural masks contain foods that are high in antioxidants, vitamins, and healthy fats, which are all crucial for smooth and supple skin.
A healthy skin-care regimen means that you need to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains as well as drink lots of water, but it doesn’t hurt to feed the skin from the outside as well. Start pulling these foods out of fridge and slap them on your face, we promise you’ll be surprised at what a difference it will make!
Avocado
This fruit (yes, it’s a fruit!) is rich in antioxidants and vitamins A, E, C, and D, which are nutrients used in many anti-aging products. Skip those products with all of the harmful chemicals and go straight to the source where the raw vitamins are.
For supple skin, the fat content in the avocado has a luxurious oil for the skin cells to soak up. Scrape off the pulp closest to the skin of a ripe avocado and apply it to the face. Leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes and then wipe off. It also makes an excellent night cream.
Olive Oil
Used as an ancient beauty aid, this healthy fat provides the skin with plenty of antioxidants and linoleic acid, which is a great lubricant. This food will provide moisture for the skin.
Olive oil can be used as a facial cleanser, getting rid of impurities from your pores and reducing the appearance of fine lines. Apply the oil to a clean, dry face and rub in circular motions for a couple minutes. Wash off with a warm wash cloth.
Oatmeal
Troubled by acne or break-outs? An oatmeal facial cleanser and moisturizer can aid with irritated or inflamed skin.
Grind the oats into a grainy consistency and add water util it becomes a paste. Apply the paste to your face as a mask until it dries, and then rinse off.
Yogurt & Kefir
Yogurt and kefir (fermented milk with live beneficial bacteria) provide your skin with antibacterial properties, so they are great for acne. The lactic acid will clear dead skin cells and tighten pores to leave your skin glowing and healthy-looking.
Choose the plain organic brands, as you’ll want the active bacterial content with no added sugar or preservatives. Apply to the face and leave on for 10 to 20 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.
Banana
Banana peels contain antioxidants that moisturize and revive skin cells. The anti-inflammatory properties of the peel also may benefit psoriasis and eczema.
You can use the peel for up to three times before losing effectiveness, so store the peel in the fridge between uses. A ripe banana mashed and placed on the skin for 10 to 15 minutes will leave the skin feeling supple and smooth.
Honey
Raw honey contains vitamins, live enzymes, and antioxidants for moisture and skin-cell repair.
Use as a mask, and apply directly to the face for 15 minutes. Rinse off or combine with the above ingredients for a super-duper beauty mask good enough to eat!
