BTS Bride, Jaylee

BTS Bride, Jaylee

When was the last time you Insta or YouTube stalked one of those relationships that have the most fairytale-esk proposal stories, that just make you wanna cry tears of joy? Well, we’ve got one for you today! Jaylee is a former ASU Spirit Squad member who found herself mutual friends with and crushing on, wait for it… a SUN DEVIL FOOTBALL PLAYER (cue the heart eye emojis and 90s Rom-Com music)! Michael and Jaylee hung out here and there, ran into each other at a lot of school events and then realized that they grew up in the same city back in California and had a TON of mutual friends! Told ya it was like a fairytale!

Jaylee was a guest on our podcast She Said Yes, and served us ALL off the juicy details, including how Michael was able to surprise her with their dream proposal location. Here’s the kicker, she didn’t have one clue that he was proposing. There’s nothing like a genuinely surprised bride-to-be, so touche Michael!

Because we knew you just couldn’t get enough of their love story, we decided to ask the Bride a few more pre-wedding questions to help you get to know her a bit more, as we showcase our experience during her planning process. Let’s dive into her head to see what this process has been like for her so far!

BTS: Do you feel different now that you’re a fiancé?

Jaylee: Honestly, no! We’ve been together for about five and a half years and every day gets better and better. I truly think it’s weird calling him my fiancé … I always call him my boyfriend still (be)cause it feels like too fancy of a word for me. I can’t wait to call him my husband though, that I have no problem saying!

BTS: What are you most excited about for your wedding day?

Jaylee: Cliche, but I’m so excited to walk down the aisle and see Michael’s reaction. We aren’t doing a first look so I think this will be a really special moment. I’m also just super excited to be surrounded by 250 people that we absolutely love and adore that want to celebrate US!

BTS: What celebrity wedding did you love and why?

Jaylee: Oooo tough question (be)cause I don’t follow too many celebrity weddings, but I do love Morgan Stewart’s wedding. She had the right amount of simple and over the top, which is what I’m trying to do. And the clean all white look, I love that too, but I’m trying to add a little more flavor than just all white.

BTS: Does your ring have a nickname?

Jaylee: People do this?! My ring does not have a nickname, but I must say it is my BABY. I clean it at least once a week because I never get tired of that fresh sparkle. Maybe I should think of a name though … honestly, no name would ever do it justice!

BTS: Will you be having any pre-wedding parties? If so, do you have anything planned already?

Jaylee: Yes! We’re going to do an engagement party sometime this summer as just a fun way to get everyone excited for the wedding. It won’t be anything too extravagant. Think of it more as an excuse to hang with our friends and celebrate being engaged again. I did a long engagement for a reason, it only happens once so celebrate as much as you can!

BTS: Is your wedding day something you’ve been dreaming about for a long time (the typical little girl playing dress up for her wedding)?

Jaylee: YES. I have definitely been dreaming of this day my whole life. My friends and I used to play “wedding” when we were little. I was also a flower girl in a couple of weddings and remember thinking the bride was so pretty and how I couldn’t wait to be that girl one day. I’ve had Pinterest boards for years and have been saving wedding inspo on Instagram since it was possible to even start saving photos. My style has changed a little bit, but I have no problem continuing to look for wedding photos and inspiration whenever I get the opportunity.

BTS: Do you think your hubby-to-:be will let you have full control over planning, or will he be hands-on in the process?

Jaylee: He likes to act like I have full control, but whenever I show him ideas he always throws in his two cents. It’s pretty cute. He also has little things he really wants to happen on our wedding day so I’ll be sure to make those happen. He will definitely want to try all the food too, that he definitely won’t miss out on!

BTS: What do you imagine your bridal style being like?

Jaylee: My bridal style is all over the place. That’s why I have my (BTS) wedding planners to help me hone in on a style. But I like clean and modern with elegance. I don’t like the luxurious/glam feel. I want people to feel comfortable and like there truly is just a feeling of love and closeness. We’re doing an estate wedding, so I feel like that helps bring those styles/vibes.

We hope now you feel like you’re a little part of Jaylee’s journey. We can’t wait to share more details with you regarding her venue, decor and so much more! Don’t forget to head over to She Said Yes podcast to listen to Jaylee’s episode and completely melt over the way she talks about her relationship!

WHAT NOT TO WEAR; guest edition

So many times we talk about what guests should consider wearing to weddings: the pretty dresses, the perfect shoes, a suit that fits oh so good, but we are almost doing you dirty if we don’t talk about what you should NOT be wearing. Can we get an “AMEN” from all the brides who were mortified by some of their guest outfit choices?

When a wedding is approaching, often, guests have a moment where they think to themselves, ”What the hell am I going to wear to this wedding?”  It’s true, you’ve at least done it one time in your wedding attending life. But! Have you ever thought, “what am I NOT going to wear to this wedding?” 🤔. If not, you should. Seriously. And if picking out an outfit comes too casual for you, it’s probably because YOUR OUTFIT IS TOO CASUAL!!!! Read that again if you have to.

C’mon people, let’s be real. If what you are wearing to someone else’s wedding is something in your everyday wardrobe, please reconsider. Better yet, reevaluate your position as this person’s friend or family member. Yes, we said it. Now, we don’t want to come off harsh, but someone has to tell you to get it together. Who is a better friend? The one who tells you about yourself or the one who lets you be reckless? Exactly! If your spouse or best friend isn’t helping you out, then you better believe we will!

That all being said, we are going to list out the major NO’s of wedding guest attire so you’re aware and can’t say, “Well, I didn’t know!” 😒.    Ready …. here we go!!

RULE #1 White. Don’t wear white. Of any shade. What. So. Ever (unless you are advised to do so). That includes, off white, eggshell, sand, candlelight, ivory, sequin GOLD OR SILVER, light grey. NONE OF IT IS ACCEPTABLE. If you have a question, just don’t wear it. You’re not the bride. Tell yourself that or have someone check you.

RULE #2 Do not wear sandals. Sandals, including but not limited to flip flops, Birkenstock’s, slides or any other velcro strap, Jesus versions. Ladies, anything that does not have a tiny bit of a heel doesn’t fit the occasion–fancy yourself, you deserve it and so do your feet!

Rule # 3Denim/Jeans. OF ANY SORT. Leave them at home for errands to run.

RULE #4 No Sweats. Sweatpants, Track Suits, Sweatshirts, Leggings, Athletic Wear in general (this includes sneakers too). If it looks like your going to be heading to the gym, you better have a membership cause you’re not entering into one of our weddings!

RULE #5 Shorts. Guys is it really too hard to cover up the bottom half of the leg and put some slacks on? We don’t think so. Get the pants. Put them on. And wear them at the wedding. Refer to rule no. 3 and 4 for pant options.

So, we hope we weren’t too harsh on you but these are just a FEW things we want to make sure you do not wear to a wedding. If you were to go to your own wedding, would you wear what you have on? Unless you’re reading this at a wedding and in compliance with all five of our rules, chances are the answer is no. Do yourself a favor, do your bride and groom a favor, and finally, please do us a favor. Make sure you look good. Everyone will be happy when you’re looking your best!!!

Winter’s biggest hair trend, barrette stacking!

You probably have some stored away somewhere in your bathroom. You’ve worn them once your twice when you were a little girl. And just as anything else, they’re making their way back into the fashion scene. Yup, we’re talking barrette stacking. We’ve talked about several different hair trends over the years so it is probably no surprise to you that this is our topic of choice for this week’s blog. Not to mention, it’s this winter’s biggest hair trend!

Ok, let’s break it down for you. The term stacking in bridal is typically reserved for wedding bands (blog on that coming next week!). Before we get into talking about this trend, let’s define barrette stacking for the readers who are not privy to this trend. Stacking is mixing and matching three or more hair clips at a time. Off the bat, this may seem a little bit cray, but stay with us it’s a trend we think you’ll come to love. Disclaimer: when done the right way. For example, how gorg would it be if a bride wore pearl stackable barrettes to hold down the front of her veil? See! We told you that you’d grow to love it.

That being said, we have yet to see a bride do this, but if you do, share her with us! She is totally our vibe. We’d love to see this look incorporated into bridal, even if it’s just the rehearsal dinner or a bach look. Until then, let’s take a moment to appreciate these beauties because I think before, we may have just taken them for granted.

Don’t forget, be sure to let us know if these are hot or not in the comments.
