We were recently invited to design a table for our local NACE chapter. In case you were wondering, NACE is the National Association of Catering and Events. It is a national non-profit organization with several chapters across the entire United States. Out here in Phoenix, Arizona, we have a rather large chapter and amazing participation from many local business in the event industry. This event took place at Troon North Country Club, located in north Scottsdale.
When Alex and I got together to design the table, we were having a hard time initially because we are smack dab in the middle of a very busy wedding season. It seemed as if our creativity was a bit blocked with all of the wedding planning details, schedules, and designs we have swarming in our heads. We decided to start off by writing down a few descriptive words of what we wanted our table to be like. Here is what we came up with:
♥ Classic elegance, a touch of edgy, black and white, detailed, pretty:)
After creating our descriptive list, we started on our design board. We searched for a few pictures on Pinterest to give us inspiration and we sketched out a few pictures of the tables set up. We wanted to use very simplistic colors, black and white and just a touch of blush. We decided we wanted a little more detail in the centerpieces and when were brainstorming different things to add in, it hit us…cupcakes! What a better way to enhance a traditional design. We knew the cupcakes needed to be designed just right. They couldn’t clash and they couldn’t get looked over. We knew just who to call on for these little masterpieces of art, Pixy Cakes.
For the flowers, we had a pretty good idea in mind of what we wanted the centerpieces to consists of but being as we were working with the ever-so talented, Brady’s Floral Gallery, we knew they would have a great interpretation of our design board…and they definitely did! The white flowers they picked were incredibly beautiful and the black accents they placed throughout couldn’t have been more perfect.
We meet with Christian from Classic Party Rental for all of the rentals. We needed a backdrop, a black chandelier for sure, and we wanted something on the floor to cover the ballroom carpet so we used what would typically be a black and white checkered dance floor but we had them arrange ours in a stripe pattern. We had two white stripes at the top and bottom and one black stripe down the middle. This was set up just like the table, which used a white linen with a black runner down the middle. We wanted to use black chivari chairs and had to have a few plates, layered in different styles.
We were so pleased on the day of set up, everything turned out wonderfully! We received a lot of compliments from our fellow industry colleagues. It was a great feeling:)
