Backyard Wedding: Scottsdale, AZ

One of the biggest compliments for a wedding planner is to have a relative or close friend of bride, who you have previously worked with, reach out to you and want you to do their wedding as well.  These are usually the best brides to work with because they have seen us in action and have a sense of trust with us, right from the beginning.  That is exactly what happened with this couple, Michaela and Matt.

In October, 2014, we coordinated Danielle and David’s wedding at Silverleaf Country Club, in Scottsdale, AZ.  Be sure to click on the links to see their stunning wedding.  Michaela was one of Danielle’s bridesmaids and her older sister.  Just a few short weeks after Danielle’s wedding, Matt had proposed to Michaela and they reached out to BTS right away to get their wedding plans going.  We were so happy to have the honor to work with this family again.

When speaking with Michaela about her ideas for her wedding, there were a few things that were very clear.  Simplicity was to be the main focus of her wedding design and food: quality and taste, were extremely important to her.  Michaela is a chef in New York, where her and Matt reside.   Michaela and Matt both live on the east coast, basically across the country from where we are in Scottsdale, Arizona so we had to make sure everything was just as she wished, being as she would not be around for many wedding planning meetings.

We scheduled a time to meet with Michaela’s mother to do a walk through of her backyard, which is where the wedding was going to take place.  The property itself is absolutely stunning and really didn’t need much decor at all.  We began creating her floor plan and design boards and then went to work to find the perfect vendors to make these wedding plans come to life.

The planning process was extremely smooth and had just about zero complications, which is always wonderful for us as the wedding planners.  We were down to the final days before the wedding when we received a call  from the mother of the bride.  She said, “Trista, UPS lost Michaela’s wedding dress.”  We couldn’t believe it!  This was the only hiccup we had experienced throughout the wedding planning, and boy was it a big one.  We immediately reached out to our contacts in the wedding dress industry and began setting up appointments for Michaela to find a new dress.  Thank goodness, she found the most amazing wedding gown at Nordstom, which you will see in the photos below.

The photographer for this wedding was one of our absolute favorites, Mike Olbinski.  He captured  so many incredible images, it was tough to choose which photos we were going to showcase here.  Check them out and let us know what you think about this stunning wedding, which was focused around simplicity.
