Fresh floral necklaces and other floral accents have become a unique and popular trend these days.  Now, we all know about Hawaiian Leis but, this doesn’t even begin to compare to the many different ways flowers can be used as accessories for your wedding day.  As wedding planners, it is our job to keep up with the latest and greatest in the wedding world, but to be honest, we didn’t know much about these styles until recently!  Once we started looking into them more, we feel in love!  If done the right way, this could be a perfect way to substitute for a bouquet or even use as an addition to the traditional bouquet.  Florists, no doubtably will be up for the challenge to create such unique pieces.

benandkellyphotography.Suzanne&RayWedding-10066 Almost 1 year ago, we were setting up for a wedding at The Phoenician when a lovely lady and her father peaked into the room.  Turns out they were venue shopping for the bride’s upcoming wedding.  The bride lived in Los Angeles and was only in town for a small amount of time.  I took a break from set up and spoke with them for a bit.  I talked to the bride-to-be, Suzanne, about what she wanted her destination to be like.  She told be some awesome descriptions of a beautiful fairytale wedding she was envisioning.  My mind immediately started brainstorming the perfect design concepts for this wedding.  I had to get back to work so I gave them each one of my business cards and was totally hoping I would hear from her again. A few days later, Suzanne contacted me and we set up a time to talk on the phone in more detail about her wedding.  She had toured a few properties around Scottsdale and was torn between a few of them.  This is all very common.  Choosing the right venue is a stressful part of the planning because it determines so much about the wedding.  There are a lot of things to take into consideration like, pricing, food and beverage minimums, what is all included, end times, service fees, taxes….the list goes on and on.  After deliberating a bit more, Suzanne decided to go with The Phoenician and we began planning and designing! After a few conversations, I was really able to pin-point Suzanne’s style.  She is very romantic and feminine.  She loves the color blush and really loved sequins linens.  We shared photos on Pinterest and had a great collaborative effort on the entire design of her wedding. Suzanne was able to come out to Scottsdale a couple of times before the wedding, which was great.  We scheduled her tasting and did a mock up of her flowers and finalized a lot of the details and design ideas in person.  During these meetings, I got to know her a bit more.  I found out she is a dedicated ballerina and practices quite often.  I also found out that her fiancé was in a rock band and had tons of tattoos.  I thought to myself, a ballerina and a rocker….what on earth could make for a better couple? The big day finally arrived and it was absolutely perfect.  It was literally a fairytale in every aspect.  This couple had amazing family and friends and everyone seemed to really enjoy the evening. Check out these beautiful moments captured by the super talented, Ben and Kelly Photography:

New colors we love seeing together for weddings are gray and yellow!  We have seen this color scheme for a little while now, but it hasn’t been one of the top picks.  Lately we have been seeing it more and more.  We think this is going to continue to grow in popularity because it is fitting for every season.  Depending on the shades of these colors, this scheme can alternate between cool and warm colors.  Tell us what you think!

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of Modern Revival yesterday.  Modern Revival is a company that rents vintage and modern furniture for weddings and other special events.  Shannon is the owner of the company.  She has a beautiful studio set up with everything from victorian style couches to old tins and liquor bottles.  She has beautiful tables, rustic picture frames and awesome chalk boards (we all know how popular these are in weddings now days).  Shannon has it all!  The items are all for rent at very reasonable prices.  Her business makes so much sense, especially in this day and age where we all have our pinterest boards filled with creative and detailed wedding ideas, and every bride wants the personalization of her own unique wedding, this is definitely the place to go!  Here are a few great pictures from her website of some of the amazing items Shannon had to offer:

This September, BTS Event Management, along with a few other amazing event industry professionals organized an awesome event for WENWEN is a wedding networking group that meets once a month and allows people in the wedding and event industry to get to know one another on a more personal level and build relationships.  This is important because it takes a large team of talented people to create the wedding of your dreams, so knowing each other’s strengths and talents allows us to collaborate on the highest level.  When we designed the event, we wanted to go with a fall theme.  In Arizona, the heat doesn’t allow for a whole lot of weddings or events to take place in the summer, but once it starts to cool off,  our season begins and we are working at full speed.  The WEN event was hosted at the beautiful Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center.  We titled the event, Fall Back into the Season.  I would like to share some pictures of this evening:)

When planning a wedding, one of the quickest things that rack up costs are the flowers.  Flowers are a great way to decorate an event but after the expense of bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and rose petals, it may be difficult to accept the even larger expenses of centerpieces and aisle decor.  Not to worry, there are several alternatives to costly floral centerpiece arrangements.  Here are some money saving ideas:
